Commercial biodiesel production
to ensure Botswana reduces
Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
by 2030
he permanent secretary for
Ministry of Mineral Resources,
TGreen Technology and Energy
Security Mr. Mmetla Masire attended
the commissioning ceremony of
the Multiple Feedstock Biodiesel
Processing Plant under the Biodiesel
Production Project funded and
his Ministry. This was held at the
University of Botswana campus.
The Permanent secretary applauded
the Department of Agricultural
Research and the University of
Botswana for their continued and
indispensable technical support in
the implementation of the Biodiesel
ProductionProject. He acknowledged
how the Project seeks to enhance
knowledge and scale up biodiesel
production from various indigenous
feedstock in Botswana.
“It is an exciting and challenging time
to be in the energy sector– both in
Botswana and globally. The global
challenge is to power economic
development in a way that is reliable,
secure and meets those critical clean
development objectives of lowering
greenhouse gas emissions and
reducing air pollution.
Technological transformation, changing
